German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) Gold Certificate for Europaviertel West district in Frankfurt

Certificate for sustainable city quarters

The German Sustainable Building Council has awarded aurelis Real Estate GmbH & Co. KG in Eschborn its Gold Certificate for Sustainable Urban Quarters for the Europaviertel West district in Frankfurt/Main. This is one of 13 European urban quarters taking part in the German Sustainable Building Council certification process. AS&P – Albert Speer & Partner GmbH has been heavily involved in the development of the Europaviertel district since as long ago as 1997.

Hanzhong Garden City

AS&P wins competition in China

With a surface area of 27,246 sq. km and over four million inhabitants, Hanzhong is already an important agricultural and commercial center in the northwest Chines province of Shaanxi. The planned high speed train station represents a significant impulse in the development of the city. Against this backdrop an international urban development competition was held for a 25 sq. km. urban expansion scheme for approx. 500,000 inhabitants in connection with the new station, in which alongside “ATKINS” and “AS Architecture Studio”, “AS&P” was also invited to participate. In late December 2011 the jury decided in favor of the entry submitted by AS&P.

German Economics Ministry plans trip to Qatar and Egypt

AS&P part of business delegation

From December 7-9, 2011 the German Minister for Economics and Technology, Dr. Philipp Rösler, plans to travel to Doha, Qatar and Cairo, Egypt. He will be accompanied by a limited number of representatives from industry. Prof. Albert Speer and Joachim Schares, a member of the Management of AS&P, will participate in the trip by the delegation.

Albert Speer is honorary professor

Munich’s Technical University (TUM) has made Prof. Albert Speer a TUM Distinguished Affiliated Professor. The TUM alumnus is one of today’s most important urban planners and architects worldwide. The TUM bestows this honorary title on renowned international scholars who are leading proponents of their respective field.

AS&P and PROPROJEKT exhibit at the sports fair in Qatar

AS&P at the Aspire4Sport

As in previous year Joachim Schares and Axel Bienhaus (AS&P Management) are taking part with PROPROJEKT at the four-day event on international sports business. “Aspire4Sport” runs from November 15-18 in the Aspire Dome in Doha. AS&P and PROPROJEKT will, among other things, be presenting the expertise they brought to bear in supporting Qatar’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2022®.

Construction Week Awards

AS&P wins `Consultancy of the Year´ 2011 award

The winners of the 2011 Construction Week Awards were unveiled at a gala banquet at the Westin in Dubai last night. A total of 16 categories, ranging from companies to individuals and projects, were honoured at the event. AS&P/PROPROJEKT was successful in the nomination group “Consultancy of the Year” and stood up to competitors in this group from industry leaders such as Bureau Hapold, Atkins, or Hyder. The judges praised AS&P’s and PROPROJEKT’s thoroughness, enthusiasm and dedication to cutting-edge technology and sustainability requirements.

Award for `Campo at the Bornheim Depot´

AS&P wins the 2011 Green Building Frankfurt architectural award

Since 2009 the Energy Department of the City of Frankfurt has bestowed the Green Building FrankfurtRhineMain architectural award, with which it aims to demonstrate how fascinating and attractive sustainable architecture can be. At the time it was completed in 2009 for ABG FRANKFURT HOLDING/ UPG Urbane Projekte GmbH the `Campo at the Bornheim Depot´, which was awarded the prize today, was Germany’s largest inner-city residence built in the passive house style, boasting 14,000 sqm of usable space. The Campo construction project reveals how converted complexes can be upgraded in terms of urban development planning and, through subsequent construction work, a high-quality, vibrant quarter can emerge.

Criminal Court Complex

Construction Progress in Riyadh

The Criminal Court, being developed since the fall of 2008, is located at the southern end of the Qasr al Hokum district in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The office of AS&P – Albert Speer and Partner GmbH, responsible for artistic management, received the first prize in an international competition for the design of the judicial building in 2005.

Nanchang AVIC Hongdu International Urban Design Competition

AS&P wins competition in China

The city of Nanchang is one of China’s rapidly developing “middle-sized cities” and, as the capital city of Jiangxi Province, with its five million inhabitants it is of national importance. In early 2011 the city staged an international urban development competition for an approx. 2.95 sq. km site, the former pilot training and aviation research center “Hongdu”, which had its own runway. In future the new urban quarter will assume valuable, concentrated, inner-city functions. As such the project represents a topic that is becoming increasingly important in Chinese cities, the conversion of inner-city industrial sites.

14th Expo Real a success

AS&P a stand partner for the Frankfurt Business Development Bureau

Having been attended by 37,000 visitors the 14th International Commercial Real Estate and Investment Trade Fair ended in early October. AS&P made a successful appearance as a stand partner for the Frankfurt Business Development Bureau. At the fair, managing partner Friedbert Greif talked about the urban planning concept for the downtown campus at the Technical University in Chemnitz. Axel Bienhaus, a member of the management, took part I the round of discussions on the subject of ‘Cathedrals of the Future’, what will our world be like in the future?
