Architects such as Albert Speer are nonetheless trying to come up with at least a framework for this rampant growth. In an interview with Timour Chafik, Speer talks about the metropolis Cairo and his ideas for the meaningful redevelopment of the satellite city “6th of October City”.

Frankfurter Rundschau – by Torsten Weigelt
There will be no touching the “Green Heart”, or at least the dozers and tower cranes won’t. This is the opinion not only of Liederbach’s citizens, but also of the planners at the office of Albert Speer & Partner, which since the end of July has been devising an “Urban Master Plan” for the smallest of the towns in the Main Taunus district. A 26-hectare green zone in the heart of the town, “now that’s absolutely unique in the entire RhineMain region” enthuses project manager and AS&P partner Stefan Kornmann.

A life in harmony
Süddeutsche Zeitung – by Peter Horn
China’s real estate prices are suffering from disparity. The price of apartments is running far ahead of rises in incomes, the China expert Johannes Dell of AS&P Shanghai is quoted as saying in an article in the real estate section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper. The prolific construction boom in China’s rapidly growing cities had to be sustainable and go easy on resources, he wrote. `The country has an historic opportunity of becoming a key player with regard to the sustainability of its urbanization and the reduction in its consumption of resources’.
